Play develops in a particular sequence with expected play behaviors to emerge at certain ages. Play and language development are closely linked, particularly in the first five years of life.

Semantics is the understanding of word meanings and the relationships between words. Children’s semantic development is a gradual process beginning just before the child says their first word and incudes a wide range of word types.

ANSWERING QUESTIONS
Young children understand different question words at different ages. Once they correctly understand a question word, and the concept that goes with it, they are able to answer these questions correctly.
